Introducing The iPhone 5C

After months of rumour, educated guess work and wishful thinking, Apple finally unveiled the iPhone 5C (and it’s big brother, the iPhone 5S) at it’s latest media event on 10th September 2013. I’ll cover the iPhone 5S in another post shortly, but here’s a brief rundown of the new 5C model:

  • Same chassis as the previous model, the iPhone 5, this time featuring a choice of new coloured plastic shell casing. The original iPhone 5 model is being discontinued as a result.
  • Initially the iPhone 5C will be available in green, blue, yellow, pink and white.
  • Available in both 16GB and 32GB capacities.
  • 4″ Retina display.
  • A6 processor.
  • Siri

Other features carried over from the iPhone 5 have received an improvement, such as the facetime camera and improved WIFI.

As someone who has been holding out for a new iPhone for quite some time (I’m still using my original 3G model!) I’d already made the decision that the iPhone 5C/5S would be my time to upgrade to a new phone. While I still think I’ll be going with the iPhone 5S model, Apple have managed to give me pause for thought over the iPhone 5C. The new colours available are a breath of fresh air and make me nostalgic for the days when the iPod Mini launched with it’s colour range following years of only having the iPod Classic in white and black. Although Apple, why you no give me purple? 🙁 All pretty colours aside, I’m still drawn to the white model of the iPhone 5C – classic Apple after all.

What about you? What do you think of the iPhone 5C range and will you be getting one?

  1. Oh I just luuuv the new 5C! I can’t decide between the blue or the pink … or is it red? It looks pretty red to me rather than outright pink. The white’s very retro Apple I agree hun. xx

    • I know right?! Apple are calling it pink, but being totally honest it looks like a kind of salmon pink to me – a bit orangey/reddy. I love the white because of it’s retro-Appleness! 😀 I’m just disappointed there’s no purple!
