Finally, the inevitable has happened. Last year, we were still on 20Mb cable broadband and enjoying full speed via our admittedly very standard Belkin G-range router. By October, we’d upgraded to 50Mb and this week we’ve bumped up to 60Mb. Full speeds via our modem, 20ish via the router – even wired! We’ve made do until now, but the lack of bandwidth’s been starting to really become a problem lately. Perfect opportunity to finally cave in and shop around for a new piece of kit that’d hopefully deliver our 60Mb & well beyond! 100Mb will be calling shortly! After much research, we finally settled on this little beauty!
This is it, the newest addition to our tech setup. Meet the D-Link DIR-655 Wireless N Gigabyte Router. I’d joke about how pretty she is, but the unboxing & review have still to come! And yes, I’ll refer to her as ‘her’ for she shall be a master of multitasking when she assumes her place in our setup, hopefully some time tomorrow if I can find the time to get down behind the desk & dig out all the old cabling to her predecessor. For now, the Belkin will see its last night and I’ll get to enjoy some serious tinkering tomorrow. Expect a review in a few weeks once I’ve had time to give the router a true test run!
